New Beginnings

It is still ninety degrees, the weatherman is still spouting out beach forecasts and I am still feasting on summer corn on the cob and watermelon but, alas, those days are waning…Tomorrow forty-three students will arrive sporting new sneakers and backpacks armed with a passel of school supplies designed to guarantee success in fifth grade.  Truth be told, supplies, sneakers and backpacks (even squeaky clean classrooms with well sharpened pencils and welcome bulletin boards) cannot guarantee a successful fifth grade year!

Tomorrow we will store those supplies securely in their assigned spaces, put our pencils aside, and ponder:  What are our hopes and dreams for fifth grade?  What do we want our classroom community to be like? What will be necessary for success in our learning?

Welcome to Community 27 – Dunning Class of 2017!
